The northeast Indiana region saw three girls wrestlers win state championships last season in the first year as a fully-recognized IHSAA sport. The three – Garrett’s Rhaigyn Trenary and Nevaeh Wilson and New Haven’s Ysabelle Ocampo – each will return to the mat to highlight the sport’s second season, which kicked off last week.

The postseason will begin at 16 sectional sites Jan. 2, with the top four place winners advancing to one of four regional sites. Plymouth, Kokomo, Muncie Central and Bloomington South will play host to regionals Jan. 10, with the second girls wrestling state finals are slated for Jan. 16 at the Corteva Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
