SHREVEPORT, La. — Shreveport’s 2026 budget hearings opened Monday with one clear message: No new taxes and no utility rate hikes.

City administrators told council members the spending plan largely continues current services.

“There are no changes in sales tax rates, in water rates, or property taxes,” said Chief Administrative Officer Tom Dark during the public hearing.

The mayor’s proposed budget was delivered Oct. 1, giving the council until Dec. 15 to adopt a final version.

Work sessions are scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m. and Thursday at 8 a.m. inside Government Plaza.

Officials emphasized the hearing is part of a transparent annual process for residents to weigh in before the final vote.
