TEXARKANA, Texas – Texarkana, Texas, celebrated 100 years of its historic city hall on Monday evening with music, treats and a city council meeting to follow.

Historic Preservation Officer Matt Solomon said this project has been an amazing journey of planning and researching the history of City Hall .

The 100 th Anniversary Planning Committee discovered that this was not Texarkana’s first city hall . The first was built in the 1880s and mostly demolished in 1924 to merge the old with the new and opened in 1925.
