ALEXANDRIA — A new playground will be coming to Fillmore Park in Alexandria.
At its meeting Monday night, the Alexandria City Council agreed to purchase the equipment from Landscape Structures and Flagship Recreation for $230,963. The pricing would have been about $12,000 higher if the order was placed at a later date, according to council member Roger Thalman. The city will be able to store the equipment and start the project next summer.
The equipment is for the larger playground geared for children 5 to 12. No action has been taken yet for a small “Tot Town” for children younger than 5 that was being considered last spring.
The bigger playground's installation would use a hybrid surface design combination of ADA-approved poured-in-place equipment “pathways” and engineered wood fiber
