Rowan County’s first female assistant district attorney died earlier this week.
Janet Ward Black’s death was announced by Ward Black Law, the firm she founded and owned.
“ Ward Black Law announces with deep sadness that our founder and owner, Janet Ward Black , passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2,” the release said. “Janet Ward was a devoted attorney, a visionary leader and a tireless servant to North Carolinians. She led one of the state’s largest woman-owned law firms, and her life’s work advanced justice for clients, strengthened the legal profession and invested in communities across our state.”
Black’s career reflected achievement and service. A graduate of Davidson College
