Florida Veteran Credits His Service Dog for Saving His Life During a Medical Emergency
A Florida Army veteran says he owes his life to his devoted service dog, Tommy, whose quick instincts alerted him to a serious medical emergency in the middle of the night.
Hank Ford, a retired Army veteran, was sound asleep when Tommy suddenly began barking and pawing at him. The dog’s unusual behavior immediately caught Ford’s attention. When he got up to check on him, Ford realized that something was terribly wrong. He felt dizzy, unsteady, and found it difficult to speak clearly. Every time he tried to return to bed, Tommy blocked his way and continued to pace anxiously, refusing to let him lie down again.
Sensing the urgency in his dog’s behavior, Ford decided to drive himself to the hospital. On
