ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Plans to bring more and larger jets to the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport are receiving pushback from some residents.
“I love this airport. I love it exactly the way it is,” said Steve Racine, a private pilot living in the Oak Wood neighborhood. The neighborhood is in the flight path of DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. “It needs to be a little regional airport just the way it is. It serves the community wonderfully, just as it is right now.”
DeKalb County is looking to vote on a contract with Sky Harbor to build more aircraft hangars.
The project is a $45M price tag to build eight hangars. Sky Harbor said the county will pay nothing for the build and generate $576 million in direct revenue and taxes and bring in 600 jobs.
