Hydro-Québec repair crews were working into the early hours of Tuesday morning as the first snowstorm of the season swept through Montreal and much of southern Quebec, leaving hundreds of thousands without power.
At 10:30 p.m., Hydro-Québec reported about 100,000 outages. That number more than doubled within an hour. At 12:40 a.m., there were more than 250,000 outages reported.
In the Montreal area, around 50,000 addresses lost power at some point overnight, with the outages scattered. Laval had about 20,000 addresses affected.

Provincewide, the hardest-hit region was the Montérégie. More than 100,000 addresses were affected.
