The Chicago Cubs had a disappointing exit in the 2025 MLB playoffs. Despite their hard effort, they were no match for the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS. Last season, the Cubs signed one of the top players in the league. Bringing in Kyle Tucker helped the team make it to the playoffs, but Chicago has shown no interest in retaining Tucker.
To make things worse, the Cubs declined to exercise the team’s option with Shota Imanaga. The Japanese star declined his player option in return, which made him a top free agent target. Shota Imanaga’s absence is not a good sight for the Chicago Cubs, especially if they want to make the playoffs. Chicago must act quickly, as the team has already shown interest in Imanaga.
MLB trade rumors are in full swing, and teams will begin their winter meetings soon
