There were cheers, claps and more than a few teary eyes at Rozet Elementary School Friday afternoon as the students, teachers and staff, as well as local and state leaders, showed their appreciation for Campbell County’s veterans during the school’s annual ceremony.
This is the 14th straight year that Rozet Elementary has put on this event. But the school had help from other community members, including the CCHS marching band, local soloist Christina Pollat and musician Joe Kissack. And the students themselves sang a military medley of the songs of the various armed forces branches.
But the highlight of the afternoon was when the students descended from the bleachers to hand the veterans handmade cards expressing their thanks.
