A U.S. Justice Department Attorney said Monday the Justice Department is working on gaining clemency for former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters.
A federal pardon would have no effect on Peters’ case, as she was not charged at the federal level.
“We’ve been fighting for two months to figure out a path on Tina Peters,” DOJ Pardon Attorney Ed Martin said in an interview with Steve Bannon. “It’s come out publicly. We’re fighting for Tina Peters. You say ‘well, just go get her.’ We’ve got to work with Colorado.”
