When New Castle resident Alison Cotey’s son, Asher, was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer at just 1 year old, a Colorado nonprofit’s research helped save his life.

Asher, now a fourth-grade student at Kathryn Senor Elementary in New Castle, was diagnosed in 2017 with Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor, or ATRT. It’s a rare and aggressive type of brain tumor that primarily affects young children.
