A Midland couple had been planning their return to the UK when they were killed in 'catastrophic' flash floods in Spain.

Ex-pats Donald and Terry Turner were found dead in their car, days after torrential rain began to batter Valencia.

The retired couple, originally from Burntwood, had been driving to a petrol station for supplies when they attempted to cross a ford that was one foot wide.

Their car was flipped on its side when a sudden burst of floodwater emerged from uphill, leaving the pair submerged inside.

Donald, 78, and Terry, 74, were reported missing to the Spanish authorities on October 29, 2024, as a year's worth of rain fell in just eight hours.
