The Lenawee Community Foundation recently awarded $47,400 in grants to 23 local organizations.
The grants, made possible through the V.C. and Velma Knight Memorial Fund, support a variety of health and human services projects, according to a community announcement.
The Knight Fund has awarded more than $672,000 in grants to date. The couple's legacy continues to impact the community even after their passings in 1980 and 2005.
The grants will support projects like homelessness prevention, adult literacy tutoring, a backpack buddy program, addressing trauma in children, and providing fresh food and hot meals for those in need.
"The Lenawee Community Foundation works hand-in-hand with donors and partners to connect generosity with community need," wrote Bronna Kahle, CEO of the Lenawee
