CLEVELAND — One man has died following an overnight house fire in Cleveland in the area of West 59th Street and Denison Avenue.
It was around midnight when firefighters responded to the scene after a call came from an “older adult resident who had escaped the fire,” according to a Facebook post from the Cleveland Division of Fire . “Another adult resident re-entered the house and was overcome by smoke/heat from wind-driven fire.”
The victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. His name was not released.
Fire officials say it appears the man was attempting to rescue his dogs.
The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.
