Ninth-seeded North Brunswick defeated fifth-seeded Marlboro 4-3 on penalty kicks in the semifinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 4 playoffs in North Brunswick. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and two overtime periods. William Tal scored the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout for North Brunswick.
Goalkeeper Alex Andino made the crucial save in the fifth shootout round, ending the match. Andino finished with seven saves on the day.
Chris Licona scored in the first half, giving North Brunswick a 1-0 lead before Vincent Pollifrone tied it for Marlboro in the second half off an assist by Gianni Liscandra.
Despite the loss, Marlboro (9-8-4) had offensive chances and outshot North Brunswick 20-10.
