A Central Florida man is working to ensure that if you want to donate to veteran charities, it is to a charity that is efficient with its money.

Rick Berman is the executive director of the Ram Veterans Foundation, which created a website that ranks nonprofits.

Berman said there are 145,000 veteran charities registered with the IRS in the United States, and many of them are not supervised. He reviews financial information from the 100 largest in the country that collectively bring in more than $3 billion.

"Right now, there are organizations that run extremely high overhead," Berman said. "You can find an organization on our website that's got 90% overhead. That's ridiculous. The ones on our website that are highly recommended run at less than 10% overhead. We also look at whether or not
