LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - In honor of Veterans Day, a local organization is working to provide veterans with the care they need.

Footprints of Michigan is hosting its annual ‘Soles 4 Vets’ event on Veterans Day, November 11, providing free shoes to veterans in need.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1p p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles building on W St. Joseph Street.

Veterans planning on attending need a military ID or a DD214 military form. Regardless of status, they will be able to receive a free pair of shoes.

Last year, the organization gave out 350 pairs of shoes to veterans.

Geronimo Lerma, executive director of Footprints of Michigan, said people tell him year-round how much they look forward to this day and their new shoes.
