MADISON (WKOW)— Gov. Tony Evers has demanded the Trump administration release overdue federal Impact Aid payments for 20 Wisconsin school districts. These payments are crucial for supporting over 21,000 students in the state.

Gov. Evers criticized U.S. Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon for delaying these funds, which were due in October.

The Impact Aid is vital for schools' basic operations like payroll and transportation. Evers highlighted the importance of this funding, especially for rural districts facing unique challenges.

He emphasized that most of these districts are operated by federally recognized Tribal Nations. He urged immediate action, stressing that Wisconsin students depend on these resources.
