CLEVELAND, Ohio — There will be a cloud of mystery surrounding Mentor as it prepares for Friday’s OHSAA Division I football regional semifinal against Canton McKinley.
The Cardinals (11-0), who are the No. 2 seed in Region 1, got a scare in their quarterfinal win against Jackson when senior running back Jackson Farley went down with an apparent knee injury in the first quarter. Farley, a Kent State commit who entered the game with 1,465 yards and 24 touchdowns, ran for two long TDs in Mentor’s 52-6 win against Jackson. He went down on the Cardinals’ third possession, but told the News-Herald afterward he felt “pretty good.”
