Twenty-three years ago, the Giants ’ NFC East rival down in Washington hired a brash, loudmouthed coach from the SEC.

Florida legend Steve Spurrier didn’t exactly work out during two seasons with the team not yet known as the Commanders. He went 7-9 and 5-11 and was back in the SEC two years later at South Carolina.

Now, with Brian Daboll fired, will the Giants go after another brash, loudmouthed SEC coach?

Mississippi’s Lane Kiffin coming to East Rutherford would not be precisely the same as Spurrier going to Washington.

The most obvious difference is that Kiffin has NFL head coaching experience — 4-12 and 1-3 with the Raiders from 2007-08. Oh, and Kiffin’s old quarterback, Jaxson Dart , is now leading the Giants.
