OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. — UPDATE: Janella Nicholas was found safe in Newaygo County , according to deputies. She has been interviewed and released to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

A 51-year-old man was taken into custody and is now facing charges in the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A girl missing from Oakland County may be in West Michigan, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

17-year-old Janella Arlene Nicholas was last seen getting off the school bus around 3 p.m. Friday. She did not come home after that.

Investigators believe Nicholas got in an older Jeep Cherokee with an unknown person. She may be in West Michigan, deputies say.

Nicholas is 5'5" tall and about 135 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshir
