COLUMBUS, Ohio — As our community honors veterans this week, a Hollywood star with a long history of playing heroes on screen is in Columbus to be part of those celebrations.
Actor Matthew Modine, known for his role as Private James "Joker" Davis in "Full Metal Jacket," will give the keynote address during the Veterans Day ceremony at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum on Tuesday.
But he has another connection to the museum. He headlines an exhibit currently on display inside.
"Matthew Modine’s Full Metal Jacket Diary" features personal photographs and memorabilia from his time on set making the Stanley Kubrick war classic. Modine gave 10TV a tour of the exhibit and shared why it means so much to honor the men and women in uniform. Here’s an excerpt from the conversation:
