Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Monday, Nov. 10, said flags will remain lowered in honor of former Vice President Dick Cheney until Nov. 20.
Cheney, who served under George W. Bush, died at the age of 84 in his family home on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.
"The State of Michigan remembers former Vice President Dick Cheney by continuing to lower flags to half-staff. Michigan residents, businesses, schools, local governments, and other organizations also are encouraged to display the flag at half-staff," Whitmer said in a release on Monday.
Whitmer on Nov. 4 ordered that Michigan and U.S. flags at the State Capitol Complex, and all public buildings and grounds in the state lower their flags to half staff until interment of the former vice president.
