GRAND FORKS — Americans take for granted many freedoms that have been earned by veterans, former Grand Forks Mayor Michael Brown told attendees at a Veterans Day event on Tuesday.
As he looked out at a crowd of fellow veterans and others, he said it is up to the people to take advantage of those freedoms made available by so many sacrifices by the nation's veterans.
“It is the veteran, not the preacher, who has given us the freedom of religion,” he said. “It is the veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
