The U.S. Senate voted on Nov. 10 to fund the government , a key move that's likely to bring an end to the longest shutdown in U.S. history and provide relief to impacted Hoosiers.
Eight Democrats joined with Republicans to craft a new spending measure that would fund the government through Jan. 30 and reverse layoffs for federal workers during the shutdown. It passed with just enough support to end the filibuster at 60-40.
But other Senate Democrats criticized that the deal made no guarantees on extending enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, the demand at the heart of the shutdown.
