Fresno can expect a drenching on Thursday similar to the one it received a month ago that set an all-time rain record for the date.

The National Weather Service in Hanford estimates the city has a 76% chance of receiving an inch or more of rain from this storm.

NWS meteorologists expect the storm to start Wednesday night and continue into early Friday morning.

In October, Fresno received 1.18 inches of rain, including a record 0.48 inches for Oct. 14. Fresno’s October average is 0.56.

Snow in the Sierra, Too

NWS has issued a a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada. The forecast calls for 6 to 12 inches of snow above 5,000 feet and as much as 2 feet at higher elevations from early Thursday morning to early Friday morning.
