BALTIMORE —
An event this weekend is designed to support caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease and dementia, especially within the Black community.
November is National Family Caregivers Month and Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month, a time to recognize the millions of people caring for loved ones living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
The numbers are striking in Maryland with more than 258,000 caregivers who provide almost 300 million hours of unpaid care valued at about $7 billion.
The Alzheimer's Association African American Caregiver Conference takes place from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Morgan State University's University Student Center, in the Calvin and Tina Tyler Ballrooms.
