HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is going after Harris County again in his latest lawsuit. He accuses the county of using taxpayer money to defend undocumented immigrants being deported.
Last month, the Harris County Commissioners Court approved allocation of over $1 million for the county’s Immigrant Legal Services Fund. The program provides free legal representation to eligible immigrants who are in detention or facing the threat of deportation. It also provides counsel to children under 17 in Harris County who were previously detained in ORR shelters.
