Richard Darbyshire, the frontman of 1980s pop band Living in a Box, has died aged 65.

His devastated family confirmed the news on Monday, telling the BBC: “We are all very sad but his memory and songs will live on.”

The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Darbyshire fronted the Sheffield-formed trio, who shot to fame with their self-titled 1987 hit Living in a Box. The track reached number five on the UK Singles Chart and broke into the US Top 20, earning the group international recognition and a lasting place in 80s pop history.
