HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, Hawaii —
A "volnado" was captured on cellphone video spinning behind a 1,000 foot-tall eruption on Hawaii’s Big Island on Sunday.
The video showed the Kilauea volcano producing a fountain-like lava eruption with a twister-like plume of ash visible nearby.
The so-called “volnado” is created from the contrast between the heated air near the lava and the cooler ambient air, CNN reported.
