TAWAS CITY – Playing in the first round of the Division 3 district volleyball tournament, Tawas Area was able to get a well played victory on Monday, Nov. 3. The Lady Braves were hosting the Charlton Heston Academy, and they swept away the Lady Patriots, 25-16, 25-18 and 25-23.
“It is (good to win in the first round),” head coach Carol Elowsky said. “I was just really happy with the win, I thought we did what we needed to do.”
In the first set, the Braves claimed a quick 5-1 lead and a nice serving run from Rowan Davis, where she had one ace, helped extend that gap out to 11-4. Tawas’ lead grew to 14-6 and they held a commanding 23-14 advantage with an ace by Ava Briggs. Davis closed out the set with an ace as well.
