Comedy Central host Jon Stewart expressed frustration with Senate Democrats on Monday after the passage of legislation that would end the longest government shutdown in history.
The United States Senate passed an amended continuing resolution Monday that would keep the government open through Jan. 30, 2026, while also containing appropriations for the full fiscal year for the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction. Stewart told viewers that the episode of “The Daily Show” was sponsored by “I can’t fucking believe it!”
“And what, you ask, is ‘it ? Well, ‘it’ is the Democrats. You remember the Democrats,” Stewart said. “They shut down the government last month for a very particular reason.”
