The Dallas Mavericks have fired General Manager Nico Harrison. The news broke this morning via reports from Shams Charania. Harrison became Dallas’ GM in 2021 and presided over two trips to the Western Conference Finals along with one to the 2024 NBA Finals.
In February, 2025 Harrison engineered the trade of franchise superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for center Anthony Davis as part of a three-team deal. The Mavericks failed to make the 2025 NBA Playoffs and have started 3-8 this season in Doncic’s absence.
Dallas released an official statement as well as a letter from owner Patrick Dumont to Mavericks fans in the wake of the firing. The statement reads, in part:
