STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- As thousands across the five boroughs celebrate Veterans Day, New York City is making it easier for former service members to secure affordable housing.
On Tuesday, Mayor Eric Adams announced the expansion of the Municipal Employee Housing Preference, which now includes military veterans.
As of Nov. 15, all new affordable housing lotteries listed on the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s Housing Connect website will include a 10% preference, up from 5%, for eligible city employees and military veterans, making it easier for them to obtain affordable housing.
