Giant inflatable turkeys, volunteers dressed as turkeys and turkey hats are all part of the Friends of Folsom's 16th annual "Buy One More" turkey drive underway in Folsom on Tuesday.

Volunteers are stationed outside the Walmart on Riley Street and the Grocery Outlet on East Bidwell Street, encouraging people to buy an extra turkey and donate it to help those in need this holiday season.

Over the past five years, the nonprofit Friends of Folsom has averaged a collection of 10,000 turkeys each year, which are then donated to the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services.

"Even one turkey donation can make a difference. We started with 71 turkeys the first year and now collected over 85,000 since. So, you can have an impact," said Sarah Woods, Friends of Folsom's vice president.
