WASHINGTON — It's the first significant cold snap of the season, and Tuesday's high temperatures are only in the 40s, with wind chill making it feel even colder.
Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a Cold Alert for D.C., running through 9 a.m. Wednesday. That means hypothermia shelters are open around the District, generally from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
