A Chicago police source said at least three victims were shot at a location that houses a Jewel-Osco store in the Douglas neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened late Tuesday morning in the 400 block of East 34th Street.

Nearby residents reported hearing scores of squad cars and ambulances responding to the scene and reported seeing at least one victim being taking out of Jewel by ambulance.

Chicago police said two people entered Jewel and took merchandise that was on display. When they attempted to leave, a 46-year-old security guard intervened. One of the robbers opened fire at the guard and struck two other people as well as the guard, police said.
