Children’s entertainment juggernaut The Wiggles have vowed to raise awareness of the dangers of button batteries after an urgent recall of one of the group’s merchandise items.
The Emma Bow — featuring four lights powered by button batteries — was recalled by The Wiggles Holdings Pty Ltd and its importer and distributor CA Australia on August 1, 2024.
The Wiggles sold more than 3,100 of the popular bows — modeled after the accessory worn by former Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins — at their live shows, online store and at toy retailers between June 2022 and March 2024.
It was recalled because it lacked “mandatory safety warnings” for button and coin batteries.
At the time the recall warned the “button/coin batteries may not be adequately secured and may be accessible by young children”.
