Jackson High School freshman Aarit Koul has won the 2025 National Civics Bee .
The competition, held in Washington, D.C., concluded Nov. 11.
Koul competed against finalists from 38 other states in five rounds, including a round where he presented a problem society is facing and offered his suggestions to solve it. The 14-year-old discussed the health care system in the United States.
The first-place win earned Koul a $100,000 college fund.
Koul had won the Ohio event, earning him a place in the national competition.
“Aarit is the kind of student every school hopes to have,” Jackson High School Principal Matt Ziders said before the competition. "As our freshman class president and a three-time state Civics Bee champion, he continues to show great leadership, curiosity, and humility
