DICKINSON — At 11 a.m. on Veteran’s Day, the Dickinson Community gathered at Dorothy Stickney Auditorium for Dickinson State’s annual program celebrating veterans.

The Veterans Day Program began with an introduction by Dr. Rich Braun, a presentation of the colors by Honor Guard members and the Start Spangled Banner performed by N’Compass Chorus.

After an invocation by Deacon Bob Stockert of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Braun introduced the speaker of the morning, Retired US Army Command Sgt. Major Jack W. Cripe.

Cripe’s address focused on the lasting impact veterans have after their service has concluded. They often become first responders, and they vote at a much higher rate than non-citizens, for instance. Toward the end of his speech, Cripe pointed out, “There’s no better way to t
