Mea Brodie, accused of first-degree murder after allegedly shooting her mother in October, made her first appearance in Coconino County Superior Court on Monday , Nov. 10 .

The 46-year-old appeared relaxed and cheerful as she entered Presiding Judge Ted Reed’s courtroom alongside other inmates from the Coconino County Detention Facility. She grinned broadly as she walked and took her seat, in contrast to the generally subdued demeanor of most of the defendants appearing for the morning’s proceedings.
