Just a few residents attended a public meeting Tuesday to learn about a proposed roundabout at Jefferson Street, Greison Trail and a realigned Sprayberry Road in Newnan.

Bill Albrecht was one of those in favor of the project. In general, he supports roundabouts.

“I think that roundabouts are the safest intersection you could possibly have,” Albrecht said.

Flor Zimmerman was adamantly opposed. The proposed realignment of Sprayberry Road includes creating a cul-de-sac at one end and renaming the southeastern portion Old Sprayberry Road. That portion, where her and her sister’s businesses are located, would no longer connect to the roundabout.

Closing that part of the road will significantly reduce the number of cars passing by their businesses, Zimmerman said.
