SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Western Iowa Tech Community College has announced a third settlement involving its former J-1 Visa Program.

The settlement was for $2.5 million, and according to the college, its contingency fund will help cover this amount. With this settlement, the college said it involved 21 former students who were part of the J1 Visa Program.

The program was initially started to give international students the ability to study at WITCC while working at local businesses that aligned with their studies

In 2020, students who were a part of the program filed lawsuits against WITCC, accusing the college and the businesses involved in the program of misleading students and having them work at area businesses for low pay.
