Srinagar, Nov 11: The Assembly constituencies of Nagrota and Budgam recorded strong voter participation in Tuesday’s bypolls, with Nagrota posting a turnout of 74.63% and Budgam closing at 49.92%, according to official data.
The bypolls were held to fill the vacant Assembly seats following the resignation and demise of sitting members after recent political changes in Jammu and Kashmir. The contests were viewed as an early test of public sentiment ahead of the full Assembly elections expected next year.
In Nagrota (AC-77), voters turned out in large numbers throughout the day, reflecting a strong political engagement. Polling officials said the process remained peaceful and incident-free under tight security.
