Russia on Tuesday rejected allegations by US President Donald Trump that it has conducted secret underground nuclear tests, saying it is willing to discuss the matter.

In October, Trump sparked global concerns when he hinted that the United States may resume underground nuclear weapons tests, something not done since 1992, stating, “We’re going to do some testing … You’ll find out very soon."

He had also levelled the accusations that both Russia and China had secretly tested nuclear weapons.

Previously, Trump posted on his social-media platform that he had ordered the US military to “start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis," citing growing threats from China and Russia.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov offered on Tuesday to speak to Washington about its concerns.
