MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Better Business Bureau is warning veterans about scammers targeting them with fake charity and government agency schemes.
The BBB said scammers impersonate charities that help veterans to steal money and personal information. They also pretend to be government agencies offering financial assistance to veterans.
Scammers may reach out by email or mail, claiming veterans qualify for grants or house loans.
The BBB recommends researching any person or agency online before responding. Official government websites will have .gov in the URL and use HTTPS to ensure the website is secure.
