In a show of respect and gratitude, a crowd of hundreds young and old gathered at the downtown Chatham cenotaph for Remembrance Day.

The annual ceremony, hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 642, began with a parade, featuring an honour guard, as well as the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment, cadets and other military personnel, first responders, legion members and local dignitaries.

There was a moment of silence and the playing of the Last Post along with the Piper’s Lament. O Canada and God Save the King were also sung.

After the laying of the wreathes and conclusion of the event, the public was invited to place their poppies on the cenotaph.
