VERONA, Wis. -- The City of Verona Common Council opted to not renew its contract to keep Flock cameras in the city during a meeting on Monday.
The move to end the contract was decided by a voice vote.
Flock cameras have the capability to identify vehicles connected to crimes, missing persons, AMBER Alerts, and Silver Alerts. Law officials and Flock Safety, the company behind the cameras, say this technology reduces investigative time and overtime costs.
The City of Baraboo recently implemented its own flock cameras , something that Baraboo Police Chief Justin Carloni said is an important step in enhancing public safety and supporting efficient policing.
This system has been strongly scrutinized, as critics say their information may be vulnerable.
