LAS VEGAS -- Longtime Detroit Tigers minor-league catcher Eliezer Alfonzo has signed a minor-league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The New York Post first reported the signing .
Alfonzo, 26, spent eight seasons in the Tigers’ minor-league system after signing as a teenager out of Venezuela. He was invited to the last two Major League camps in Lakeland, Fla., but has yet to reach the big leagues.
He is the son of Eliézer Jesús Alfonzo, 46, who played professional baseball for 22 seasons, including parts of six years in the majors with four teams.
Alfonzo entered last spring coming off a strong winter-ball campaign in Venezuela and got three hits in limited Grapefruit League action. He opened 2025 with Triple-A Toledo before spending most of the year at Double-A Erie, where
